Research project

Our project investigates the integration of CO₂-free energy systems into the TU Darmstadt campus infrastructure, combining photovoltaic generation with battery storage, renewable heat sources such as waste heat, solar thermal energy, and geothermal heat pumps. A key component is the use of a digital twin to optimize system operation through automated, data-driven control strategies. Building on previous project phases, we focus on implementing and testing these technologies in real-world conditions, assessing their scalability and long-term viability in collaboration with the university’s facilities management and an interdisciplinary research team.
